1. How will my laboratory benefit from participating in a PT program?

a. By external evaluation and performance improvement of your laboratory

2. Which accreditations does QualiGene have?

a. ISO 9001:2015

b. ISO 17043 for most PT programs

3. How does the process work?

a. Application – you can apply for a PT scheme via this online application form. If you have previously participated in a proficiency scheme, you will also receive a personalized invitation via email.

b. Samples – you will receive a set of coded samples and details about sample volumes and concentrations, together with instructions on storage and how to report your results.

c. Analysis – the samples should be tested under normal routine test conditions. The sample volumes will be sufficient to carry out the required tests at least in duplicate.

d. Reporting your findings – You will receive a result form to fill in once you have the results, and send it back to QualiGene

e. Final report and certificate – after participating in a proficiency testing scheme, you will receive a final report via email stating your coded results and a certificate stating your participation in the PT scheme.

f. Confidentiality – QualiGene’s evaluation and grading is confidential and will be submitted back only to the laboratory manager. All Statistics and grades published in the annual report (includes an annual benchmark) are anonymous

g. Annual benchmark report – The benchmark published at the end of the year will allow you to compare your PT results to those of other participating labs.

4. Which PT can QualiGene offer to your laboratory?

5. How much does it cost to participate in a PT scheme?

a.  Please contact us for a price quotation for your PT of interest.

b. The pricing system may be more considerate towards laboratories from developing countries.

6. How do I know the PT time table?

a. All PT schemes take place twice a year (except for PGD PT which takes place once a year), the first round in March and the second round in August.

b. An e-mail, specifying the date of PT material shipments, is sent at the beginning of each year to all participating laboratories.

7. How do I know the grading criteria for each PT?

Each PT protocol specifies the grading method.

8. Will I be able to appeal?

We receive appeals for up to a week from final report receipt. Send us an e-mail, specifying the PT scheme, sample number and your arguments. Once you receive your e-mail, your results will be re-evaluated by our specialists and PT scheme consultants, and we will send you our response within 10 days.

9. How do I order a DNA sample from your catalogue?

a. You choose the desired sample from the catalogue.

b. You contact us through the website and indicate the sample you wish to order.

c. We reply to your e-mail within up to 48 hours and refer to your request.
